With a giant inflatable drill instructor staring over her shoulder, Julie Norman, from Callaway, Minn., attemptes to hang for 70 seconds on a pull-up bar at the 26th annual WE Fest in Detroit Lakes, Minn. Recruiters set up an information booth at the 16th annual WE Fest, a country music festival in Detroit Lakes, Minn., Aug. 7-9, to promote awareness of the Marine Corps and maintain a friendly face. Marines captured the attention of more than 200 applicants each day out of the festival’s 48,000 total attendees. The recruiters received 351 leads and scheduled eight appointments with festival attendees interested in learning more about the Marine Corps.
