Major Morales graduated from the United States Naval Academy with a Bachelor of Science in Political Science and a minor in Spanish, and was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps on May 25th, 2007.  He graduated from The Basic School in 2007, and the Infantry Officer Course in 2008.

In May of 2008 Second Lieutenant Morales was assigned to Company L, 3d Battalion, 5th Marines as a rifle platoon commander.  He deployed to Okinawa with Company L in 2009 as the mechanized company for Battalion Landing Team 3/5 on the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit and conducted bilateral exercises in Thailand, the Republic of Korea, the Philippines, and Australia.  In August of 2009 First Lieutenant Morales was assigned to Weapons Company as a combined anti-armor team platoon commander.  In 2010, he deployed to the Republic of Korea for Exercise Key Resolve/Foal Eagle.  From 2010 to 2011, he deployed with Weapons Company to Sangin, Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

In June of 2011, Captain Morales was assigned to Advisor Training Group as an instructor and the Motorized Operations Officer in Charge.  In 2012, he was assigned as the Final Exercise Officer in Charge and Assistant Training Officer.  In 2013, he was assigned as the Assistant Operations Officer and served as Advisor Training Group’s voting member on the 2013 Security Cooperation Training and Readiness Manual Working Group.

In May of 2015, Captain Morales was assigned to 3d Battalion, 7th Marines as the Assistant Operations Officer and immediately deployed to join the battalion in support of Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force-Crisis Response-Central Command 15.2.  In November of 2015, Captain Morales assumed command of Company I.  He deployed Company I as the Crisis Response Company, GCE, SPMAGTF-CR-CC 17.1 from 2016-2017.  In April of 2017, he was selected by the Commandant of the Marine Corps as one of the six finalists for the 2016 Leftwich Trophy for Outstanding Leadership in the Ground Combat Element.  In May of 2017, Captain Morales was assigned as the Operations Officer for 3d Battalion, 7th Marines.  In 2018, he deployed as part of SPMAGTF-CR-CC 18.2.  In January 2019, Major Morales was assigned to the operations section of 7th Marine Regiment as the lead planner for Exercise Valiant Mark 2019, a bilateral exercise with the 7th Singaporean Infantry Brigade in Singapore.

Major Morales is a graduate of the Army Reconnaissance Course, a distinguished graduate of the Expeditionary Warfare School, and a distinguished graduate of the Operations and Tactics Instructor Course.  He holds a Master of Public Administration from the University of Southern California.  His personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with combat distinguishing device and gold star in lieu of second award, and the Combat Action Ribbon.

Major Morales is married to the former Jenna Marie Newberry of Richland Center, Wisconsin.  They have two daughters, Wynter Jean and Catalina Jacqueline.  They are expecting their third child in November 2019.
