FORT SNELLING, Minn. --
Maj. Kenneth C. Gawronski assumed command of Marine Corps Recruiting Station Twin Cities from Maj. Daniel E. Colvin during a change of command ceremony at Historic Fort Snelling, June 25, 2010.
Colvin served as the commanding officer of the recruiting station since June 2007. Under his command, the recruiting station received the Commandant’s Superior Achiever Award for years 2007, 2008 and 2009. Colvin’s next duty assignment will be with Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 49, Marine Aircraft Group 49, 4th Marine Aircraft Wing, in Newburgh, N.Y.
This is Gawronski’s second tour in the Twin Cities. He previously served as the Officer Selection Officer for North Dakota, Minnesota and eastern Wisconsin. While there, he tied the 9th Marine Corps District record for contracts in a single year, while also producing multiple Officer Canidate School honor graduates.
Prior to returning to “The Land of 10,000 Lakes,” he served as the operations officer for Combat Logistics Regiment 2 in Camp Lejeune, N.C. He deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. His personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, and Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with two gold stars.
