Marine recruiter Sgt. Timothy Riffe competed in a pull-up challenge against University of Minnesota gymnast Justine Cherwink at TCF Bank Stadium for the Military Appreciation Football Game Sept. 10. During a time-out in the fourth quarter, Riffe and Cherwink had 30 seconds to complete as many pull-ups as possible. More than 48,800 Golden Gopher fans cheered as Cherwink knocked out 18. Twenty-four young men and women march into the center of Target Field during a pre-game ceremony Sept. 5 in commemoration of the 1967 Twins Platoon. These twenty-two men and two women, who are from the local area, took the oath of enlistment and were sworn into the Marine Corps in commemoration of the group of 150 warriors who swore in on June 28, 1967.
