Gunnery Sgt. Ralph Grimes, a prior service recruiter out of Kansas City, Mo., speaks with a former Marine about the oppurtunities in the Marine Corps reserves. Grimes role as a PSR is to find inactive marines who still have the desire to be on active duty and wish to return. The Midwest Marines PSR community received the inaugural Recruiting Excellence Award for Superior Performance by being number one in the nation through mission success and customer satisfaction.

Irving Schlossenberg is interviewed by a Kansas City television station during the 2009 Lenexa Police Department Marine Corps birthday celebration. Schlossenberg was the oldest living Marine combat correspondent at the time. He died of congestive heart failure Sunday. Schlossenberg served in World War II from 1942 to 1945 during which he served in five pacific campaigns including four first wave landings.

GySgt. Joshua Shaffer, SNCOIC or RSS Kokomo, is presented with the Centurion trophy after having the title bestowed upon him. Shaffer enlisted 100 qualified young men and women, 80 percent in the upper mental groups and all them were Tier 1, High School Graduates.
