After sharing with them the opportunities for musicians in the Marine Corps, Gunnery Sgt. William R. Howe listens to the North High School band perform Feb. 7, 2005, in Des Moines, Iowa. Howe oversees the Musical Enlistment Option Program, which allows high school musicians to join the Marines and play in one of its 13 bands.
