Katherine Hass, a 21-year-old officer candidate from the University of Wisconsin in Madison, Wis., finds her azimuth during the land navigation course at Fort McCoy, Wis., April 12, while a staff member supervises. Hass was one of nearly 200 candidates to take part in the 9th Marine Corps District's Officer Candidate School preparatory weekend, where they were given a taste of OCS training. The candidates experienced the yelling of platoon sergeants, running a physical fitness test in harsh conditions, and finding their way through a land navigation course.
