Rebecca Carlson, 22, from Hastings, Minn., put up Sarah Belden's hair with a sock-bun while attending a Recruiting Station Twin Cities female pool function June 24-25. Women are usually taught this hygiene technique by drill instructors once they arrive at boot camp. Belden, 18, from Austin, Minn., ships off to Parris Island, S.C., on July 11.
