A Marine from Marine Corps Recruit Sub Station Roseville scouts ahead of poolees hiking through the forest around historic Fort Snelling, Jan. 19. The Marines' goal was to prepare the poolees for boot camp, as well as foster a sense of brotherhood among the poolees. Poolees carried packs and rubber rifles to simulate the heavy loads they will be expected to carry in Marine Corps recruit training.
