Christapher Bess, a Drill Instructor with Company B, 1st Battalion, Recruit Training Regiment, Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, looks on as Poolees from the southern half of Michigan participate in an Initial Strength Test (IST). The IST was conducted during a mini-boot camp conducted by Recruiting Station Lansing designed to expose poolees to the rigors of Marine Corps Recruit Training.
