On July 18, Colonel Jason L. Morris assumed command of the 9th Marine Corps District. His personal decorations include the Bronze Star (with Combat Distinguishing Device) with one Gold Star, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal with two Gold Stars, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with one Gold Star, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with one Gold Star, and the Combat Action Ribbon with one Gold Star.
