Marines and poolees of RS Lansing were invited to attend the opening games of the fall season to help out as "buddies". The league gives children with physical and mental disabilities the opportunity to play baseball through the use of a specialized rubber field and equipment. The buddies are volunteers from around the community that assist the players in hitting, throwing, catching, and running the bases.
