Des Moines – The daily battles of a Marine Corps recruiter present unique challenges for most Marines. From visiting high schools and homes, to meeting with community leaders, to canvassing the streets are all in a day’s work to find the next generation of tough, smart, elite warriors. Despite these daily struggles, Sgt. Christopher Schaefer, Marine Corp Recruiting Station Des Moines, received the 9th Marine Corps District’s Spartan Award, March 27, for contracting more than 65 young men and women during his three-year tour as a Marine Corps recruiter.
