Connie Cantrell, a Mason High School math teacher and swim coach, received the Marine Corps Recruiting Station Lansing Coach of the Year Award, May 20, 2016. Each year, RS Lansing honors coaches that exemplify the Marine Corps values of honor, courage and commitment, both in the arena of competition and within their communities. Cantrell has accumulated seven league championships, only lost one head-to-head meet in the past five years, and since beginning her coaching career in 2007 has amassed more than 105 wins. Her swim team concluded the 2016 season with an undefeated regular season and another Capital Area Activities Conference (CAAC) league championship.
