Sgt. Robert Tenfingers, a native Sioux Indian from Pine Ridge, S.D., presents Cpl. Chester Nez, 91, the last survivor of the original 29 World War II Navajo Code Talkers, with a paddle adorned with an inlaid unit coin and plaque. Nez received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Kansas University during a ceremony on Monday. Tenfingers is a program specialist with Recruiting Station Kansas City in Kansas City, Mo. The Officer Selection Officer from RS Kansas City and Marines from the 9th Marine Corps District also attended the ceremony and presented Cpl. Nez with a plaque and certificate from the 9th MCD Commanding Officer.
