BLOOMINGTON, Minn. -- More than a dozen members of the Delayed Entry Program volunteered to move furniture from the St. John Vianney Catholic Church to the Community of Saints Regional Catholic School recently.
An aspiring Marine with Recruiting Substation Woodbury discovered the school needed assistance, so he asked his recruiter if they could help before their Warrior Wednesday workout.
"I went there when I was a little kid, so when my mom told me that they couldn't find any volunteer movers I wanted to get involved," said Chris Ryan, 17, from West St. Paul, Minn.
The St. Croix Lutheran High School senior also said he wanted to demonstrate how the Marines always lend a hand if someone needs assistance.
"It's nice to know there are people out there willing to help their community," said Patrick Gannon, principal at Community of Saints Regional Catholic School.
According to Gannon, Marine volunteers saved the school hundreds of dollars in moving costs.
"A pool program should involve more than just working out," said Sgt. Adam Kruse, 26, from Huron, S.D. "It should be a family that's there for one another."
