Colonel Brian Blaine
9th Marine Corps District

Col Brian Blaine was born in Cleveland, Mississippi. He enlisted in the Marine Corps on March 5th, 1996. As an enlisted Marine, he served with 9th Engineer Support Battalion, Marine Wing Support Squadron 272, and 3rd Battalion, 24th Marines. He was commissioned in March 2004 through the Officer Candidate Course, followed by the Basic School and Infantry Officer Course in Quantico, Virginia. 

In December 2005, Col Blaine reported to 1st Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. During this tour, he served as a Weapons Platoon Commander, 81mm Mortar Platoon Commander, and Weapons Company Executive Officer. In June 2006, he deployed with the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit, where he participated in Operation SHARP EDGE, a non-combatant evacuation operation of the United States Embassy in Beirut, Lebanon. In September 2007, he deployed to Ramadi, Iraq, for combat operations supporting Operation IRAQI FREEDOM.   

In June of 2008, Col Blaine transferred to Recruiting Station Indianapolis, where he served as an Officer Selection Officer until July 2010, when he reported as a student to Marine Corps Expeditionary Warfare School (EWS) in Quantico, Virginia. 

In May of 2011, Col Blaine reported to the 3rd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii, where he was assigned as Company Commander, Company K.  In October of 2011, he deployed the company to Helmand Province, Afghanistan, in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM. Upon redeployment in May of 2012, Col Blaine was assigned as the Weapons Company Commander, where he served until June of 2013, when he was directed to the Company Grade Infantry Monitor Desk at Headquarters Marine Corps, Quantico, Virginia. 

In August 2014, Col Blaine deployed to Baghdad, Iraq, where he served as the Future Operations Officer for the Combined Joint Forces Land Component Command Iraq in support of Operation INHERENT RESOLVE. 

In June 2015, Col Blaine reported to Marine Corps Recruiting Station Des Moines, Iowa, where he served as the commanding officer until June 2018. He later commenced resident Command and Staff at Marine Corps University in Quantico, Virginia, from which he graduated with distinction.  

In June 2019, Col Blaine reported to 5th Marine Regiment, Camp Pendleton, California, to serve as the executive officer for 2nd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, where he deployed to the Middle East as part of Central Command's Crisis Response Force, and later as the Operations Officer for the regimental headquarters. 

In June 2021, Col Blaine reported to 3rd Battalion, 23rd Marines to serve as the Battalion Inspector and Instructor until reporting to Air University, where he attended the Air War College. After graduating with distinction, he remained on staff to serve as an Air Command and Staff Instructor and Senior Marine Officer.  

In June of 2025, Col Blaine deployed to Manama, Bahrain, as the Task Force 51/5th Marine Expeditionary Brigade G3, where he participated in Operation EPIC FURY. 

His personal decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with two gold stars, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with two gold stars, and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with one gold star.
