Sergeant Major Wagy, a native of Mead, Colorado, enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in December 2007. He graduated from the 1st Recruit Training Battalion, Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, California, in October 2008.
In November 2008, Private Wagy reported to Marine Aviation Training Group 21 at Naval Air Station Pensacola, Florida. He obtained the primary Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) of 6073, Aviation Ground Support Equipment Electrician, in August 2009.
In September 2009, Private First Class Wagy received orders for Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron (MALS) 31, Marine Air Group 31, 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing. During his time with MALS-31, he earned numerous maintenance qualifications, including full systems Collateral Duty Inspector, Quality Assurance Representative, Work Center Supervisor, and Production Control. He deployed to Helmand Province, Afghanistan, in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and participated in the West Pacific Unit Deployment Program (UDP) to Japan.
In December 2013, Sergeant Wagy reported to Basic Recruiting School, Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, California. He was subsequently assigned to Recruiting Sub-station West Omaha, Recruiting Station Des Moines, 9th Marine Corps District. While on recruiting duty, he was meritoriously promoted to Staff Sergeant and then Gunnery Sergeant, serving as a Canvassing Recruiter and Staff Non-commissioned Officer in Charge.
In January 2017, Gunnery Sergeant Wagy reported for duty to the Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training Marine Unit, Marine Corps Air Station New River, North Carolina. In October 2017, he was assigned to MALS-29, Marine Air Group 29, 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing, where he served as the Support Equipment Division Chief.
In February 2020, Gunnery Sergeant Wagy was assigned to Marine Aviation Weapons and Tactics Squadron One (MAWTS-1) in Yuma, Arizona, as the Aviation Ground Support Equipment Chief. He was later promoted to First Sergeant and assigned to Marine Wing Support Squadron 371, where he served as the Engineer Operations Company First Sergeant. In June 2022, he was assigned to Inspector-Instructor Duty with Company C, 4th Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, 4th Marine Division, in Boise, Idaho. On January 3, 2026, he was frocked to the rank of Sergeant Major and in February 2026, he assumed his current duties as the Station Sergeant Major for Recruiting Station Kansas City.
Sergeant Major Wagy's personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (3rd award), and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (2nd award).
