Major Jack A. McAndrew is a native of Syracuse, New York.  He was commissioned in the United States Marine Corps following graduation from the University of Rochester in May 2012.

 

Following initial training at The Basic School and Logistics Officer Course, Lieutenant McAndrew was assigned to Marine Wing Support Squadron 273 (MWSS-273) on Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort, SC in August 2013.  While there he served as the Motor Transport Operations Platoon Commander, Squadron S-4, and Headquarters and Services Company Commander.  

 

Lieutenant McAndrew’s next duty station was 5th Marine Regiment on Camp Pendleton, CA where he was assigned as the Assistant Logistics Officer.  In October 2016 he was assigned to 7th Marine Regiment and deployed to Kuwait with the Command Element for SPMAGTF-CR-CC 17.1.  He was promoted to Captain while deployed in April 2017 and redeployed to Camp Pendleton in August 2017, where he resumed his duties as the Assistant Logistics Officer for 5th Marine Regiment.  In December 2017, Captain McAndrew was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 5th Marines to serve as the Battalion Logistics Officer.  During his time with 2/5, he deployed to Okinawa on the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit.     

 

In July 2019, Captain McAndrew reported to The Basic School in Quantico, VA for duties as a Warfighting Instructor.  While at The Basic School, Captain McAndrew served as a primary instructor for Military Operation in Urban Terrain (MOUT), a Staff Platoon Commander for Bravo Company 2-20, and Executive Officer for Echo Company 5-21.  In 2022, Captain McAndrew was selected to attend Command and Staff College.  He was promoted to Major in August 2022 and graduated from Command and Staff College in June 2023.  

 

In July 2023, Major McAndrew reported to the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit, where he was assigned as the MEU Logistics Officer.  While with the 13th MEU, he deployed to the Philippines for the 2024 Summer Exercise Series.  In September 2024, he again deployed with the 13th MEU as the Command Element for Marine Rotational Force Southeast Asia (MRF-SEA).  On this deployment, MRF-SEA completed exercises with partner forces in the Philippines, Indonesia, Brunei, Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand.

 

Major McAndrew’s professional military education includes Marine Corps Command and Staff College, Expeditionary Warfare School, and The Basic School.  He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of Rochester and a Masters of Military Studies from Marine Corps University.

 

Major McAndrew’s personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with one gold star and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
