Simonis compete in a pull-up challenge at Williams Arena during a University of Minnesota volleyball match against Penn State on Sept. 29. Simonis and U of M wrestler Thane Antczak had 30 seconds to complete as many pull-ups as possible. Antczak, 22, from Prairie Farm, Wis., competed in the challenge even though he just finished a strength and conditioning workout with the wrestling team a few hours prior to the event. Maloney, 26, from Columbus, attended the event with Recruiting Station Twin Cities to look for potential Marine musicians. Maloney acquired a bachelor's degree in music education from Ohio State in 2010. He shipped off to boot camp two weeks after the graduation ceremony.
